No Void Option
If there is a missing void option on a transaction
I Don't Have a Void Option
Summary
Occasionally a customer will call when trying to fix
a transaction mistake on a paid transaction and no
Void option appears. This is due to the Close
Posting thru date that is set in Business Setup page
3. This is a situation that can be changed but must be
done carefully, as the Close Posting thru date is
usually set so as to prevent any changes in account
prior to that date. One exception is *TR
transactions when accessed through O-M from a
folio, these transactions must be accessed through
P-F for the void option to appear.
Procedures
To make the Void option reappear on the transaction
you must do the following:
- From Application Selection Menu select
option H - System Setup functions
- From the System Setup Menu selection option
A - Add or Edit Business codes
- Enter the Business code
- Selct option E - Edit Business code
setup
- Page down to page 3 of Business Code Setup
- Blank out or change the Close Posting Thru
Date to a date earlier than that of the
transaction
- Press F10 until all files are verified in
the Business Setup , answer Y to save
- Go to the transaction and the Void option
should appear
- After editing the transaction change the Close
Posting Thru Date back to the original setting
This procedure details how to make the void
option appear for a transaction that posted prior to the
Close Posting Thru Date in Business Setup
. This procedure inherently allows something to be
done to GL activity that someone (whomever set the
Close Posting Thru Date in the first place) did
not generally want changed. For example someone may be
trying to prevent changes to months that were balanced
and closed. So be sure to check with the proper
individuals before undertaking this procedure.
