Ownership Change Problems

Problems Performing a Unit Ownership Change

If you get thrown out of First Resort when attempting to perform a unit ownership change, it may be because you have an incorrect version of a file named 'sys.u' in your ACCOUNTS directory. This is a system parameters file which is copied automatically into your system when new versions are installed. Older versions of this file will not allow two records of selling owners with exactly the same name to exist in the historical owners file (PMH file). Although not frequent, somtimes a unit owner will own multiple units and upon recording the sale of any such units, the second such sale may cause this problem to occur. To check your system, exit First Resort and get to a DOS prompt. Change to the ACCOUNTS directory on your network (it's frequently F:\ACCOUNTS) and type: dir sys.u and press enter. Observe the file date on this file as it's information is displayed. If it is older than 11/01/94 this is your problem; please contact First Resort support to provide you with a more current version of this file. If it's date is 11/01/94, you may have some sort of data corruption problem. In First Resort, try rebuilding the PMH file and it's index (see rebuild instructions). If the problem persists, contact First Resort support for further assistance.
