Hardware Vendor Checklist For the
First Resort Internet Online Booking
Interface
To be completed prior to
installation. Please fax this to your Hardware Vendor
Immediately.
IMPORTANT: We DO NOT RECOMMEND
installing IOI on your main file server!
- 1. ___Obtain and install a stand-alone (not PDC or
BDC) Dedicated Internet Server
Computer1. Please use the
following requirements when looking for a
server.
*Please note that this is
not a file server, nor will it be
replacing you file server.
1 We
ask that you only run IIS and the First Resort
interface on the web server. Non-compliance may
result in poor performance. There can be any
number of applications running on the server that will
interfere with the performance, i.e. proxy server,
exchange server, server monitoring tools, other First
Resort interfaces.

or Windows 2000 Server.
- For Windows NT Server 4.0, Windows NT
4.0-Option Pack
- PC Anywhere 32 8.0 or greater
- Proper network clients and protocols to
connect to your file server
- Back-up Software
- load most recent patches (see #8 below)
- Optional Web Security through Microsoft's
Certificate Server (part of NT's Option Pack)
* We recommend server because it has an FTP
services included.

* These requirements are very minimum.
Depending on how many properties you have, you may
need either more processing power, more RAM or
both.
- ____ Obtain and install proper internet
connectivity equipment: CSU/DSU, Router and
Transceiver (if applicable); ISDN modem; or DSL
modem (Any way allow your web server to
have a static external IP Address).
- ____ Enable TCP/IP on the internet server
- ____ Install Software/Configure Hardware
required to run the scripts in the following
order:

- NTFS partition required (not FAT)
- Option Pack for Microsoft NT 4.0 (IIS 4.0)
- Service Pack 6a or greater for NT .
- PC Anywhere
- JScript 5 Update (Obtained from http://support.firstres.com/First
Resort/support/public/onlinebooking/PreInstall.asp)
- ____ Configuring SSL is strongly
recommended. For Information on Web Security,
go to Online

- ____ Securing your Web Server with a
firewall is also strongly recommended.
- ____ Load the most recent patches to guard against
harmful viruses. Go to http://www.microsoft.com/technet/treeview/default.asp?url=/technet/security/current.asp
to locate the patch relevant to your Microsoft product
and service pack. It is strongly recommended to
subscribe to Microsoft's security bulletin as well
(located on this site) for current updates on patches.
- ____ Setup your NT Server:
- Login to the NT server as Administrator
- Create C:\accounts\www. This directory must have
“Change” rights assigned to IUSR_computername and
IWAM_computername.
- ____ Create a new NT Server User with the same
login name and password as exists on the Novell
side, mapped to F:\Accounts (or to whichever drive
the accounts directory resides.) Otherwise, log in
as administrator, then map to F:\accounts. When the
“connect as” box appears, type in the Novell user
name (“First ResortINET”) and password.
- ____ Edit the config.nt file on your NT or
Windows 2000 Server (found in %SystemRoot%/system32)
and make sure Files=40
- Setup a user (i.e. First Resortftp) for First
Resort to use through FTP and PC Anywhere.
This can be done through the user manager.
Make sure this user has local login rights (for
FTP).
- ____ Follow the directions at this link for
setting up your web service: http://support.firstres.com/First
Resort/support/public/onlineBooking/IISSetup.asp
- ____ Test (and install if necessary) PCAnywhere
for Windows32 v.8.x or higher (Symantec provides a
30-day trial version that can be downloaded from their
web site if necessary.) Make sure that one can
access the web server through PC Anywhere outside of
your network (firewall or proxy may prevent use of PC
Anywhere TCP/IP.) Check
Symantec's Site for using PC Anywhere through
firewalls. For security, use NT authentication and
the same account setup in 6.e.
- ____ Upon successful testing of PC Anywhere, load
it into host mode on NT Server. Provide the
username, password and if necessary, the domain to
your First Resort Installation Technician.
- ____ Contact First Resort to ftp the standard IOI
scripts over to the new server.
- ____ Test settings and scripts with First Resort.
Once tests are successful, installation is considered
COMPLETE regardless of when you, the client decides to
go “live” with the system.
NOTE: To insure a smooth
installation, please make sure all these steps are
completed in full!
