When removing the Novell client 32
from a Windows 95/98 workstation, the following steps
are required. These steps are technical in nature and
should be performed by a trained and qualified IT
professional.
Run Novell's Client32 uninstall utility,
UNC32.EXE. This file should be located in the Admin
sub-directory. If the Client32 files were installed
from Novell's Client CD, then the Admin sub-directory
should be located on the CD at
\PRODUCTS\WIN95\IBM_EN\ADMIN.
Remove Novell Registry entries. Even though
Client32 has been removed using Novell's uninstall
utility, there are still a few registry entries and
files that exist. These can cause problems if not
removed.
Go to the Registry (Start>Run: type in
REGEDIT.EXE.)
Delete the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Novell
key (the entire Novell key).
Delete the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Network\Novell
key (the entire Novell key).
Delete the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\NetWare
(the entire NetWare key).
Go to Start>Programs>Windows Explorer.
Delete the C:\NOVELL\CLIENT32 directory (the
entire Novell directory).
Note: Netware
Administration Utility NWADMN32, the latest network
administration utility, will not run under the Microsoft
Client For NetWare. However, Netadmin will. The files
that are necessary to run netadmin.exe are:
Netadmin.exe (place in the \public directory)
Netadmin.msg (place in the \public\nls\english
directory on the server)
Netadmin.hep (place in the \public\nls\english
directory on the server)
If the graphical
administration utility is desired or required, we
recommend keeping one PC on the network running Novell
Client32. Please note: this PC should NEVER be used to
access or print anything from First Resort Software.
